House of Twigs

House of Twigs

A house of twigs…of leaves and grass…a brief encounter as seasons pass…an empty home…sits quiet and still…swirling winds and evening chills…will soon be hidden high above…filled with promise…Spring’s new buds…a familiar dwelling filled with love…

I’ve been following you on Instagram for some time now. I greatly enjoy your photos. It seems clear to me that even though they are powerful, beautiful statements in and of themselves I can’t help but believe that you hold a common thread that runs through all your art pieces. I would greatly appreciate it if you would share with me the “why” of your art making. This is something that I’m thinking a lot about lately of my own work. If I lived closer I would simply invite you out for a cup of coffee so that I could hear from another artist what their thoughts were on this subject.
    Thanks,

    • Tim,
Thanks so much for reaching out to me here on my website. I am very sorry that I have not responded sooner…I have to admit to neglecting the site with today’s post being the first in several weeks. I would genuinely enjoy having that cup of coffee with you if distance wasn’t a barrier. I continue to be a fan of your artwork and I am humbled by having received your inquiry. I suspect that your question about the “why” of my art making will be replayed over and over in my mind in the coming days. Honestly, it may be as simple as a quest to want to capture quiet, soothing images from my surroundings and from my memories of the past which provide an escape to simpler times for myself and for those who are viewing them. I have also wanted to create and incorporate a common style/look with each image I share that would be recognizable as being my work and that would be of a quality that artists like yourself could enjoy and honestly appreciate. You have planted a seed for thought…I am glad that you took the time to challenge me to ponder this. I would be interested in knowing your thoughts on this as well with your own work.

      Thanks,

      Tim
